| Fun game, though a bit complex (4/5) | Nov 26, 2011 | Anonymous | ||

I haven't played this reprint, but I've spent a lot of afternoons on the original board game, and I'm a fan. It's decently strategic, easy to get a sense of it, and a good way to spend some time with friends. That said, a few words of caution. One, if the hardest wargame you've ever played is Risk, this one's going to be a real step up. There's a lot of little corner-case rules, a lot of little bits of cardboard moving around, and some memory issues. Make sure your playing space isn't somewhere kids or pets will knock the board around. Two, the rulebook is written in fairly lawyerly fashion(it's even called "The Law of Titan"), which is nice for being unambiguous, but it's not the easiest source to learn from. Expect to spend a couple hours learning the game if you don't have a friend who can teach you. Three, the time to play is a pretty blatant lie if you've got more than 4 players. 2-player Titan is an hour or two, sometimes even less, but 6-player will usually take 6-8 hours. Still, it's a good game, and I recommend it. |
